Once we’ve completed our test shoot the next stage is the image editing process. First thing I do is quickly sort through all of the images from our shoot and remove the images that do not meet my standards for sharpness/focus, any images that are noticeably unflattering, and any image that is an extreme exposure error on my part. The left over images I extract jpeg previews from the RAW images and upload to a proof gallery. Next I will send you a link to the proof gallery where you can choose your 5 favorite images from our shoot for me to edit and retouch. In most cases I will edit more images from our session than just your top 5, and provide those edits to you either with your 5 selections or at a later date depending on how busy I am. If you love more images than just 5, you are more than welcome to favorite as many as you like – you must however within the comment field indicate which images are your top 5!
Click on the gallery link I’ve provided to you. You will be asked to enter an email address and a password. Don’t worry, I’m not going to spam you, this is to keep track of who is accessing galleries. If you have trouble with your password remember it is case sensitive. Some browsers also do not like cut and pasted passwords. If you’re still experiencing trouble after that, contact me and I’ll reset it.
You will need to create an account with my proofing service in order to send me your selections.
Hover over an image, you’ll see a grey heart appear in the left hand corner. Click on it.
You will be prompted to log in. Click continue.
If we’ve already shot before you can just log in to your previous account. If this is our first time together you’ll need to create an account. Make sure to use an email address that you actually use in case you forget your password.
After you’ve either logged in or created an account, the heart when you click on an image should be red instead of grey. Just select the images that you like!
Once you’re finished with your selections you can review the images.
In the upper left hand corner of your menu bar you’ll see your selections in a drop down.
If you want to make any changes to it, you can always delete an image from the list.
To send it to me click “Share Favorites” and select the “Share to Photographer” tab. It’s helpful that you title your selections to something relevant, maybe your name and a date. And if you have any specific comments or concerns there is a message box below. Of course you can contact me by other means too. Once you hit that share button I’ll get a notification that you’ve made your selections.
- Just remember that proof images are raw unedited low resolution files. If you’re looking at these and thinking OMG WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE, rest assured a lot can happen between what you see here and the final image.
- Please remember that these are not images that in their current form represent my brand or art, so they are just for you to look at. So you’re not allowed to copy them or post them anywhere! Please do not screen shot any image on this gallery.
- Keep in mind that my goal in editing is to create a beautiful image, but one that looks like you. I edit for exposure, color, composition, and sharpness. I remove obvious blemishes, and lightly adjust and smooth skin tones when I can. I do my best to remove distracting elements when possible. Some images can be touched up in ways that will really change how you feel about them with little effort on my part.
- Some images may have an element in them that you’d like changed, but are much more difficult than you’d imagine. I always tell people to never assume that something will be edited, but always feel free to ask. If it’s not something I can accomplish myself, or if in doing so it would take much longer than my standard processes I will give you some options on what can possibly be done.
